Christmas officially kicked off for WMS with the annual WMS Trades Party in Cornwall! What’s become somewhat of a tradition for the Cornwall office a few beers with friends followed by a carvery, fantastic pudding, live band and yes, a few more beers ???? rounded off a brilliant evening! Well done one and all! ????????

WMS are proud to sponsor Bideford based Harbour Community, an open access facility welcoming anyone over the age of 16 who can benefit for the support they offer!

Providing a safe, non judgmental and non threatening environment where people are accepted regardless of their circumstances or situation Harbour Community,  working purely from donations, offer;

• Hot food and drink
• Access to dry clean clothes
• Access to telephone, internet and postal address
• Advice and support
• Counselling
• Signposting
• Help with form filling
• Accompanying to agencies and
• Courses

With a team of over 20 volunteers Harbour Community have helped over 860 people since their inception 13 years ago with their magnificent work in Bideford and the surrounding areas.

WMS are proud of their involvement with Sara (Chair Person, Treasurer and everything else in between!) and Alan (pictured) and hope to continue to support them and their team for as long as they are needed!

Special people indeed!

WMS Painting Division goes from strength to strength and the recent external decoration of this multi occupancy building is testament to their abilities!

Working closely with their local scaffolding sub-contractors WMS phased their works so as to keep disruption to a minimum.

WMS have painting Divisions operating out of Cornwall, Devon and Somerset and results like these are contributing to the steady growth of the painting business across all 3 counties!

WMS Devon Painting Team have recently completed the external decoration of this lovely scheme - much to the delight of the local residents!

External decorations are never ideal at this time of year but due to painting being delayed by the pandemic a further delay was not possible.

Upon instruction WMS sought the advice of the local coatings manufacturer for the most appropriate system and specification and following a joint site visit agreed next steps!

Whilst keeping one eye on the weather forecast WMS planned all works accordingly applying all coatings in line with recommendations.

Keeping the residents in the loop was key to the success of this project and is testament to the team on site,  the feedback upon completion has been excellent!

Team work = dream work at WMS!

WMS were pleased to welcome Chris Snell, WMS Area Manager Somerset to his first Senior Management Team meeting held at our Bideford offices last week.

Chris, who recently passed his “initiation” – an evening on the Barbican with his colleagues –  is joined by David Cumberland, WMS Health and Safety Manager in the new look team. 

These are exciting times indeed for the business as it continues to go from strength to strength!

Apprentice Josh Nails It!

What a fantastic achievement for WMS Property Maintenance Apprentice Josh Hill, successfully completing his Property Maintenance Apprenticeship!

Studying at Petroc College in Tiverton Josh joined WMS in 2020 and has had experience in all aspects of property maintenance and refurbishment in his time in the business.

Josh said of his apprenticeship "It starts tough with a low income but if you can push through it the results are well worth it!

It doesn't stop here though for Josh, he is keen to specialise in carpentry and build on his existing qualifications and skills and continues to push himself.
